                                                   Biography

NEWS

My name is Jovo Cakovic. I was born on August 6, 1980, in Prijepolje, Serbia.

I am 199 cm high, and weigh 92 kg.

I am playing the central/ middle blocker position, and I can play successfully on the position of serves receiver as well.

My reach from ground is 260 cm, block reach is 327 cm and attack reach is 340 cm.

My other characteristics are these: very good and powerful serve, good play in the field, good block, high level technique…

I’ve started practicing volleyball in 1993, in a club “FAP Livnica” from Prijepolje,

where I’ve undergone the entire school of volleyball. This school is one of the best in Serbia. My coach was Zdenko Krpovic (under his guidance a club won the first prize

in the first league in Saudi Arabia, season 2002-2003).

At the age of 15, in 1995, I played in the first team of the club, in the republic’s league. While I played in this team, we won the Serbian cadets’ championship (defeating Crvena Zvezda, Partizan, etc.).

I’ve signed my first professional contract in 1997. for the same club.

From 1997. to 1999, I was playing in the juniors’ club team, which was the state’s vice-champion.

I was on the state’s juniors’ representation list in 1998. At that time, the coach was Veselin Vukovic, (who later became the first coach of Yugoslavia’s senior representation), and some of the players were Ivan Miljkovic, Aleksandar Spirovski…who all are, at this point, members of Serbia’s senior representation.

At the junior championship in 1997, I was acclaimed the best  middle blocker, and besides me Ivan Miljkovic was acclaimed the best technician, while Marko Zlatic was found to be the best player.

In the period from 1999. to 2003, I was playing in the volleyball club Spartak” from Subotica, a club that plays now in I-a league. After 2 years, in 2001, I wanted to leave the club, but I was bounded by the contract. At that time “Crvena Zvezda”, as well as some other clubs, were interested in having me.

In the 2003-2004 season, I played for club VC “Borac” from Pancevo, which plays in the  I-a league. I played in the initial setup and was one of the best players in the club. My coach was Jovica Cvetkovic

(assistant coach of Yugoslavia’s senior representation in 1996-2000, and Iranian junior representation first coach). I played in this club until the end of May 2004.

In the 2004-2005 season, I played for VC TSV Sparkasse Hartberg, from Hartberg in Austria (Aon VolleyLeague, Pool Speed). I played in the initial setup and was one of the best players in the club.

I played all games for my club in that season. I scored average 10 points per game and I was 10th scorer

in the Aon VolleyLeague, playing middle blocker position. I played in Cup C.E.V. three games for VC TSV Sparkasse Hartberg. My club was 5th  in the that season and we qualified to Cup C.E.V.

Last season (2005-2006), I played for VC Banat”, from Vrsac in Serbia (I-b league, state’s level competition). I played there, as a free agent from December 2005. until the end of season, May 2006.

When I came, VC “Banat” was 6th in this league and they wanted to qualify for I-A league, for the next season.

After my arrival we win all the games we played and we finished the season at the first place

and directly qualify for the I – A league. That was the best result in history of this club.

I’ve attended and finished High School of Economy and College of Economy and therefore my interests are various, and ambitions great.

Now, I am attending Sport’s Academy in Belgrade, department for volleyball coaches.

I want to reach the highest level in sport, practically and theoretically!
